Terms of use

These terms apply to everyone who reads or uses Deckle Notes on alstadart.com. By using the site you accept them.

Using what you read

The articles, photographs and illustrations on this site belong to Deckle Notes unless a page says otherwise. You are welcome to read, print a page for your own studio use and link to any article. Please do not republish whole articles or images elsewhere without written permission. Short quotations with a link back are fine.

Advice, materials and safety

Everything here is general information about art materials and techniques, offered in good faith. Paper, paint and printing results vary with the materials, the climate and the hands involved. Read the safety information that comes with your own tools and products, especially for carving tools, solvents, fixatives and pastel dust. Use sharp tools away from your body, ventilate your workspace and keep materials away from children and pets. Decisions about valuable or historic works on paper are best made with a qualified conservator.

Links and shops

We link to other websites, including shops. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, prices, delivery or returns. Some shop links earn us a commission, as explained on the About page. Product details shown on this site can change at the retailer's end at any time.

Letters and comments

When you send us a letter you confirm that it is your own and that it contains nothing unlawful. We may quote short parts of letters in articles without your name unless you ask us not to.

Availability and changes

We try to keep the site accurate and online but cannot promise it will always be either. These terms may be updated; the version on this page is the one that applies.
