Privacy

This page explains what happens to information when you read Deckle Notes on alstadart.com or write to us. It was written for this site and is kept short on purpose.

What we collect

When you read the site, we do not run analytics scripts, advertising networks or social media pixels. Our server and our network provider (Cloudflare) keep ordinary technical logs, such as the IP address, the page requested and the browser type, to keep the site working and secure. Logs are kept for a limited time and are not sold or shared for marketing.

When you click a link to a shop, the page sends a small anonymous count to our own server: the date, which box on the page held the link and which product it was. No IP address, cookie or personal identifier is stored with that count. It only tells us which suggestions are useful.

If you use the letter form or email us, we keep your name, email address and message so we can read and answer it. A copy of form messages is forwarded to our editorial inbox. We do not add you to any mailing list. Ask us at any time to delete your letter and we will.

The letter form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated spam. Turnstile processes technical signals from your browser for that purpose only; see Cloudflare's own privacy policy for details.

Cookies

The public site sets no cookies of its own. The administration area uses one essential sign-in cookie for the editors. See the cookie page for the details, including the cookies that shops may set after you leave this site.

Affiliate links

Some links go to Amazon and other retailers. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. When you follow such a link, the retailer may set its own cookies to record that the visit came from us. Those cookies belong to the retailer and are covered by its privacy policy, not ours. Prices and product images shown next to some links come from the retailer's own data feed with the time they were checked.

Your choices and rights

You can read the whole site without giving us any personal information. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or state privacy laws in the United States), you may have the right to see, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. Write to easel@alstadart.com and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the new version will appear on this page.
